CONFIDENTIALITY

Confidentiality, it is the most important element of customer service in the financial services industry.  For many years, customers have trusted Farmers State Bank for outstanding financial services and assured customer confidentiality.  We believe very strongly in protecting every customer’s financial privacy.  At Farmers State Bank the basis of each customer relationship, many which span generations, is trust.  You have chosen to do business with Farmers State Bank, and we are committed to honor that relationship with great care, beginning with the information you have chosen to share with us.  We believe that your privacy should not be compromised.  At the same time, we want to offer you the array of financial products and services you need to accomplish your financial goals.  We believe we can do both through the privacy policy described below.

YOUR FINANCIAL PRIVACY RIGHTS

We, our and us, when used in the notice, mean Farmers State Bank.

This is our privacy notice for our customers.  When we use the words “you” and “your” we mean all of our consumer customers who have a continuing relationship with us, such as a:

  • Deposit account
  • Loan account
  • Safe Deposit Box
  • Credit Card
  • Retail installment contract we hold and service
  • Self-directed Individual Retirement Account where we act as custodian or trustee
  • Financial, investment, or economic advisory services (for a fee)

We will tell you the sources for nonpublic personal information we collect on our customers.  We will tell you what measures we take to secure that information.

We first define some important terms:

Nonpublic personal information means information about you that we collect in connection with providing a financial product or service to you.  Nonpublic personal information does not include information that is available from public sources, such as telephone directories or government records.

An affiliate is a company we own or control, a company that owns or controls us, or a company that is owned or controlled by the same company that owns or controls us.  Ownership does not mean complete ownership, but means owning enough to have control.

A nonaffiliated third party is a company that is not an affiliate of ours.

  • Information about your transactions with us
  • Information about your transactions with nonaffiliated third parties

THE CONFIDENTIALITY, SECURITY, AND INTEGRITY OF YOUR NONPUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION

We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you.  We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to store and secure your nonpublic personal information.

We will not disclose your nonpublic personal information to nonaffiliated third parties, except as permitted by law.

NONPUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION AND FORMER CUSTOMERS

We do not disclose nonpublic personal information about former customers, except as permitted by law.

AUTHORIZED SHARING – JOINT MARKETING

We may disclose nonpublic personal information we receive from you on an application or other forms such as, name, address and date of birth, to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements.  Federal law allows us to disclose such information with other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements.  You do not have the right to opt out of the disclosure of this information.  We may also disclose nonpublic personal information about you to nonaffiliated third parties as permitted by law.

Types of Businesses.  The types of businesses with whom we may disclose nonpublic personal information under this section includes financial services providers, such as insurance agents.

Reasons For Disclosing. We may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements in order to provide our customers with information about additional products and services.

Limitations on Disclosure. Here are the limitations we impose on the use of nonpublic personal information disclosed to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements:

  • We only allow direct mail solicitations
  • We do not allow telephone solicitations.

INTERNET PRIVACY POLICY

In order to provide better service and to address security issues, we will occasionally use a “cookie." A cookie is a small piece of information that a web site stores on your Web browser on your PC and can later retrieve. The cookie cannot be read by a Web site other than the one that set the cookie. We use cookies ONLY on our Internet Banking portion of our web site.  No cookie will contain information that will enable anyone to contact you via telephone, e-mail, or any other means. You can set up your Web browser to inform you when cookies are set or to prevent cookies from being set.  Please note that computer viruses are not passed through the setting or use of cookies.  If you, as a visitor, want to disallow cookies you can do so on your Web browser.  If you do disallow cookies, you will run the risk of not being able to access certain web sites or information on those web sites.  Our Internet Banking site requires that you allow cookies to be stored on your PC.

MAINTENANCE OF ACCURATE INFORMATION
